Gujarat Govt Declare New Policy for Gujarati Movies.

Gujarat government today announced a new policy to give incentives to Gujarati film industry. As per the new policy, films will be divided into A,B,C and D four categories and incentives will be given as per the category of film.
81-100 points will secure ‘A’ category, 61-80 will secure ‘B’ grade,
51-60 ‘C’ grade,
41-50 ‘D’ grade
while films that are given below 41 points will not find place in any category.
Until now fix amount of Rs 5 lakh was given as subsidy to Gujarati films without any scrutiny for its quality and success, but now onward
‘A’ category film will get Rs 50 lakh assistance..’
B’ category film will get Rs 25 lakh assistance. The lowest amount of assistance will be Rs 5 lakh in ‘D’ category. Films will be graded as per distributor’s report. Assistance will be either 75% of production cost or grade wise amount fixed by the government, whichever lower. Films promoting empowerment of children or women will be given further 25% assistance by government.
Films with CBFC ‘A’ certificate will not qualify for assistance. Films will need to be captured in 35 mm, 2k resolution with 5.1 digital surround sound. Films will need to be at least 100 minutes long. Dubbed, copied, mixed, blow up films will not qualify for this assistance scheme. Films that violate copyright will not qualify for assistance.
Films promoting social evils, sati tradition, superstition, misleading people over controversial issues, promoting something which is against national unity or found objectionable due to other related issues will not be qualified for assistance.
Meeting of government committee will be held every 3 months to implement this scheme. Assistant amount will be deposited directly to producer’s bank account. Artists and technicians will be given prizes 32 categories. National award winning Gujarati film will be given Rs 3 crore by state government. Swarna Mayur award winner film will get Rs 2 crore. Winning Gujarati film in Moscow, Toronto, Hong Kong, Manhattan, Rotterdam film festivals will get Rs 2 crore from the state government.
The new policy has been made on the basis of KPMG report submitted to government. It is quite a much on Maharashtra model. However in Maharashtra, only 50% of production cost is given as assistance while in Gujarat, the new policy will avail 75% production cost to makers
